Evidently there's a controversy--of the sometimes overheated variety normal to vital artistic movements -- over the validity of post processing (I'm reminded of the German taverns that felt compelled to warn their patrons "There will be no discussion of religion, politics, or the music of Richard Wagner."). In theory, I'm not a purist: in practice, it's seldom that I feel I can add anything to what God/mathematics has already created beyond the boundary-editing necessary to us as finite creatures. Sometimes it happens, though, and the following fractals have been doubled, cut in half and reassembled, metallized, had their dark places filled, and "worst" of all been made to serve the needs and accomodate the objects of various "real-world" projects I've done. But on the other hand, if the same God didn't create the "real" world, who did? As the Mahayana adepts say, "nirvana is not different from samsara." (Although Courtney Love and the RIAA's lawyers would probably disagree)
